Form Data: add structured values to a form payload
Append an object or array to a FormData submission using bracketed field names.
Append an object or array to a FormData submission using bracketed field names.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- An App Connect page; a named form when the values will be submitted.
Place the component inside its form
Section titled “Place the component inside its form”Form Data finds its nearest enclosing form and listens for that form’s formdata event. It does not send a request, render inputs or save records by itself.
Configure ID, Name and Data
Section titled “Configure ID, Name and Data”ID identifies the component in the page. Name is the prefix for appended field names; the runtime default is data. Data is the bound object or array to serialize. Choose a Name that matches the server input structure and does not unintentionally duplicate existing fields.
Example: append two selected record ids
Section titled “Example: append two selected record ids”With Name selection and Data {ids:[3,7]}, FormData receives selection[ids][0]=3 and selection[ids][1]=7. Scalar values are appended as form values; null is skipped. At the server, inspect the parsed shape for the selected server model before mapping it into a query or repeat.
Use the matching submission mode
Section titled “Use the matching submission mode”This component appends during FormData construction. Server Connect Form and API Form in Form mode construct FormData; their JSON mode uses a separate control parser and does not call this listener. Do not assume this component’s data appears in a JSON submission.
Validate submitted objects as user input
Section titled “Validate submitted objects as user input”The component recursively uses object keys and numeric array indices. It does not create visible controls, enforce a schema or check record ownership. Keep a small explicit object and validate allowed fields and ids at the endpoint.
Continue with a complete form workflow
Section titled “Continue with a complete form workflow”Use the related workflow to connect these controls to data and a verified submit result.
Check your result
Section titled “Check your result”You can configure the control, use its actual value shape and verify the example without confusing page state with a submitted or saved value.
