Hold one reactive value in the current page.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- An App Connect page. Use a small known data set when verifying data binding or repetition.
Variable
Section titled “Variable”Hold one reactive value in the current page.
Properties, data and actions
Section titled “Properties, data and actions”| Part | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ID | The variable component name, such as counter. |
| Value | The initial or bound value. It can be a number, string, boolean, array or object. Use a numeric expression for arithmetic, for example dmx-bind:value="0". |
| value data | Read counter.value, not counter.data or a server-side session value. |
| Set Value | Replaces the current value and updates dependent bindings. For example, counter.setValue(counter.value + 1) increments a numeric counter. |
| updated event | Signals an update for event-driven behavior. Avoid making the handler unconditionally write another changing value back into the same variable. |
Worked example
Section titled “Worked example”Add a Variable named counter with numeric Value 0. Bind a label to counter.value and a button Click to Set Value with counter.value + 1. Click twice and confirm the label shows 2. A string initial value must be converted deliberately before arithmetic.
Behavior and limits
Section titled “Behavior and limits”This is page memory, not persisted storage. A reload recreates it unless another source supplies the value. If Value is bound to another source, later changes to that source can replace a value you set manually.
Build the surrounding page flow
Section titled “Build the surrounding page flow”Use a practical App Connect guide when you need the surrounding page, input or server-data workflow.
Check your result
Section titled “Check your result”You can use the component’s actual data path, configure its controls and verify the example’s reactive behavior.
