Read one item by its zero-based position.
Read one item by its zero-based position.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- A Server Connect action. Create the referenced Array List earlier in the same request before using it.
Get Array List Index
Section titled “Get Array List Index”Read one item by its zero-based position.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Name | The step name under which this lookup result is available to later server expressions. |
| Array List | Choose a Create Array List step available above this action. The stored reference is its name; it is not a database connection or a client-side component. |
| Index | A zero-based item position. For example, 0 is the first item and 1 is the second. Validate it against the current Size. |
| Output | Includes this named lookup result in the action response. The result can be used by later server steps without Output. Check the saved state: several lookup actions initialize Output on although their declared default is false. |
Worked example
Section titled “Worked example”For [“Notebook”,“Pencil”], select the Array List, use Index 1 and Name item, then enable Output. The result is item = “Pencil”.
Check the behavior
Section titled “Check the behavior”Validate that 0 <= Index < Size. An out-of-range index does not return a reliable portable error or fallback value: Node.js can produce undefined and PHP can report an undefined key. Index is a position, not a record’s database id.
Return to the action workflow
Section titled “Return to the action workflow”Use a Get Array List Value step when you need to expose the final list after mutations. Use a database or server session when the data must persist beyond this request.
Check your result
Section titled “Check your result”You can configure this operation and verify the example’s resulting value or list.
