Export CSV File — Reference

Reference · Advanced · Server Connect

Write a non-empty collection of records to a server CSV file.

Write a non-empty collection of records to a server CSV file.

  • A Server Connect action and a disposable server file or known test collection.

Write a non-empty collection of records to a server CSV file.

Setting Meaning
NameNames the returned saved-file path for later server steps.
PathThe complete application-relative destination filename, such as /public/exports/products.csv in a standard Node.js project. Unlike Image Save, this includes the filename. Prepare the parent folder first.
Export DataA non-empty array of records. Keep the same fields in the same order for every row; the exporter enumerates each record’s values rather than aligning arbitrary differently ordered objects by a master schema.
Contains HeaderWrites the first record’s keys as the first CSV row when enabled. Default off.
DelimiterThe separator, default comma. The implementation recognizes the literal \t setting as a tab. Use a consistent delimiter when importing the result.
No Unicode BOMPHP writes a UTF-8 BOM by default and omits it when this is enabled. The installed Node.js inline and worker exporters do not add a BOM or read this option, so toggling it there does not have the same effect.
OverwriteAllows replacing the target file when enabled. With it off, Node.js fails if the exact target exists, while PHP can choose a unique filename. Always use the returned path.
OutputIncludes the saved path in the action response when enabled. Default off; it does not send the CSV file as the HTTP download.

Export [{“id”:1,“name”:“Notebook”},{“id”:2,“name”:“Pencil”}] with Contains Header on and comma delimiter to a disposable path. Inspect the header, two records and encoding. Use File Download separately if the browser should receive the file.

Empty collections are rejected by these implementations. CSV quoting does not neutralize spreadsheet formulas in untrusted cell text, and nested objects are not a portable flat CSV value. Shape and validate the intended export fields before writing.

Keep file parsing, data validation, database writes and file downloads explicit. A successful import/export step alone does not perform the rest of that workflow.

You can prepare the required file/data shape, configure the operation and inspect its returned file or records.
