Parallel — Reference
Start independent server steps concurrently and await their results. Node.js only.
Start independent server steps concurrently and await their results. Node.js only.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- An open Server Connect action. This action is available for the Node.js server model.
Parallel
Section titled “Parallel”Start independent server steps concurrently and await their results. Node.js only.
Settings and execution
Section titled “Settings and execution”| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Name | A supplied name collects each child execution’s output into an array result. The array follows the listed child order, not the order in which operations finish. |
| Output | Includes the named result in the response. New Parallel steps initialize this on; inspect the saved state. |
| Exec | The child steps to start concurrently. Each child must be able to run without waiting for another child’s result. |
Worked example
Section titled “Worked example”Use two independent read-only API calls as children and enable their outputs. Give Parallel the name lookups and enable its Output. Verify both results, then make one child fail and inspect the action’s error handling.
Check the behavior and limits
Section titled “Check the behavior and limits”This is not a transaction and does not make dependent steps safe to run together. A failing promise does not undo external work already started by another child. Shared mutable state and database writes need particular care.
Continue with a task
Section titled “Continue with a task”Use the Server Connect guides when you need the surrounding project, data-loading or form procedure.
Check your result
Section titled “Check your result”You can configure Parallel deliberately and verify the result and failure behavior described in this reference.
